CAGR is the gold standard for comparing investment returns — it normalises returns across different time periods. A 14% CAGR means your money doubled roughly every 5 years (Rule of 72: 72/14 = 5.14 years).

- Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) measures the average annual growth of an investment, smoothing out year-to-year volatility. It shows what your investment would have earned if it grew at a steady rate each year.
- CAGR = (Final Value / Initial Value)^(1/n) – 1, where n is the number of years. Multiply by 100 to get the percentage.
- Nifty 50 has delivered roughly 13–15% CAGR over 20 years. Good individual stocks or small-cap funds may deliver 18–25% CAGR. Anything above 20% CAGR over 10+ years is exceptional.
